But I didn’t always know how to live that way.
The day I became a mom, I knew 12-hour nursing shifts weren’t sustainable. Still, I forced it for 8 more years, chasing jobs that looked “right” on paper but left me drained, disconnected, and stretched way too thin. I would show up for my patients, for my girls, for everyone else… but inside, I felt like I was failing everywhere and fully present nowhere.
When nurse coaching found me, I almost said no. I didn’t see myself as creative. I definitely didn’t think I was the entrepreneurial type. But the moment I coached my first client, something in me clicked. For the first time in years, I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I started my business terrified, unsure, but alive.
And then, right after starting my business, I lost my best friend of 37 years. The one who had always been my mirror. My voice when I couldn’t find my own. My safe place to land. When they asked me to speak at her funeral, I said no. I didn’t think I had the right words. I wasn’t a speaker.
But something in me shifted. I thought of her, how boldly she lived, how she never hesitated to take up space, and I knew she would have wanted me to do it. So I did.
Standing there, my voice shook. My hands trembled. My chest was tight. Everything in me wanted to run. But for the first time, I stayed. I let myself be seen. Not polished. Not perfect. Just me.
That moment both wrecked me and remade me. It cracked something open in me I didn’t even know was buried, and it became the heartbeat of the work I do today.
Now I help women who feel like I once did — tired of hiding, tired of shrinking, tired of second-guessing — finally reclaim their voice, stop shape-shifting, and show up in their lives and businesses as their whole selves.
Because confidence isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you build. Not by performing… but by allowing your body to feel safe enough to be seen.
